Awareness and the Law of Attraction

Recently I had a client who came to me for healing with a very specific request. He said, “I know that things happen in my life exactly the way I want them because I am a firm believer and practioner of the Law of Attraction. Only thing is that they always happen at the last moment and until it happens I feel a lot of stress.” Then he said, “I know there is some negativity in my subconscious mind that is causing things to happen at the last moment and I don’t have the time or patience to know what it is, I would simply like you to fix it!” It’s like saying that there’s a stink coming from my house, all the flowers that I’ve grown in garden are not enough to cover it but I’m just too busy to clean my house! 🙂

This is a classic case of the kind of law of attrcnblind almost fanatic faith that prevails in a lot of people regarding the Law of Attraction. For those who haven’t heard of the Law of Attraction, here is some information from WikiHow – The law of attraction states that every positive or negative event that happened with you was attracted by you. Say that a special friend loaned you money when you didn’t have any. You attracted that, even without your awareness of using the law. Say that teacher, classmate, client, or co-worker gave you a hard time during the day. You attracted that, too. Again, we are using the law every second of every day. There are really only three basic steps: ask, believe, and receive.
And the rest of the article describes 4 easy steps (with pictures!) on how to use this law to your advantage to get what you want. Very much like shopping on Flipkart– Search, Swipe to Compare, Select and Pay! 🙂

I do not intend to poke fun at the Law of the Attraction. Theoretically speaking, it is bang ON. In fact it is just a new agey paraphrasing of the ancient Hindu law of Karma – good, well meaning intentions and actions attract good and bad, ill meaning intentions and actions will attract the bad. However it is only when we start putting the Law of Attraction into practice that we notice the fine print of it. Buried deep below the conscious human mind, is a huge, unknown space known as the sub conscious mind which operates with rules and regulations of its own. The fine print of the Law of Attraction reads that the rules and regulations of this unchartered terrain have to be in alignment with the intention, event or energy that you want to attract, otherwise the Law of Attraction will not have much power for you.

In practical terms it means that you can sit there and imagine yourself being the type of big, respected boss you always wanted to be but deep within if there is a belief that “I cannot handle huge responsibilities”, unknowingly you are weakening the power of the intention you are sending out to the Universe and the signal won’t be strong enough to attract the result.

Deep work has to happen in terms of entering the dark alleys of the subconscious, shining a light on the signboards of that territory and then reworking the faulty shortcuts and beliefsystems. Once you clean up the house, you do not have to work on covering up the stink, every new flower you grow simply multiplies the fragrance surrounding your house. And that is a true representation of the Law of Attraction.
